Blizzard explains Diablo II: Resurrected server issues

Over 20 years ago, Diablo II took the world by storm, but it was only a few weeks ago when Blizzard Entertainment launched the remaster and expansion of the game, Diablo II: Resurrected. Although the game itself has been critically and commercially well-received, earning an 80/100 on Metacritic, fans have been frustrated with the overwhelming amount of server issues that have been riddled in the online experience. Adam Fletcher, Community Manager at Blizzard Entertainment, has since released a forum post explaining why the problems are happening, and the active plans as the studio to fix them.To get more news about Buy Safe Diablo 2 Gold, you can visit lootwowgold official website.

The post itself provides an extremely detailed, technical, and transparent explanation as to what exactly is going on. There isn’t a single reasoning or cause behind the issues, but the meat and potatoes of it all is that an unexpectedly high amount of player traffic post-launch has caused multiple server overloads. This not only has caused a multitude of outages, but unfortunately also means that some player’s character data was lost in the regional-to-global database transfer. Diablo II: Resurrected uses a lot of the same legacy code as the original game from 2001, and while optimized for modern day, one of the legacy services can’t keep up with the underestimated amount of game server creations.

Blizzard is hard at work in providing updates to drastically improve users’ online experience by adding features such as rate limiting and login queue creation for a more immediate solution. In the long run, plans are underway to break down “critical pieces of functionality” into their own separate services to help with server load and allow Blizzard to “look into scaling up [their] game management service.”

Blizzard Entertainment has released the Diablo 2 Resurrected update 1.06 October 18 patch, and this is to add login queue indicators for high traffic periods. This is now out on consoles, as expected given the previous announcement, and has already been released on PC previously.

We have implemented a Login Queue for high traffic periods. This queue will pop up after the title screen when opening up the game. The queue will only appear during high traffic windows.
Players will be shown a number on where they are in queue.
Players will have the option of exiting the queue and playing offline immediately if they wish by hitting “Escape” on the queue prompt.
We should note that the higher your queue number appears, the slower the number will refresh in the prompt. The number is still refreshing in the background, so we do not recommend leaving queue as this will create further delays to you entering the game during these high traffic windows.
