Should you buy a basic 2020 MacBook Air?

In March 2020, Apple introduced an updated MacBook Air with 10th Gen Intel processors, doubled SSD storage, and a scissor keyboard.

I sold all my old gadgets thanks to this site https://gadgetpickup.com/ and got the most affordable model of this laptop and am sharing my impressions of the device after a few months of use.

The MacBook Air is Apple's most affordable laptop to handle most everyday tasks that don't require high performance.

I chose the most basic model with an Intel Core i3 processor, 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD, since for more difficult scenarios, such as rendering 4K video, compiling large-scale applications or writing music at a professional level, it is better to use an iMac, iMac Pro or Mac Pro with Pro Display XDR.

Before switching to the 2020 MacBook Air, I was using the 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. In my case, the laptop was considered exactly as a portable device, so three factors became decisive: macOS, dimensions, autonomy. At the end of 2019, I thought of switching to a 16-inch MacBook Pro, but despite all its advantages, it turned out to be too bulky compared to 13-inch models.

The tactile sensation of the 2020 MacBook Air is very different from the 2018 Pro model due to the wedge-shaped body, which, for working with large texts, turned out to be the most comfortable solution. The experience was also influenced by the scissor keyboard replacing Apple's sad butterfly experiment, and the lack of a Touch Bar - I miss the touchpad in almost all applications.

I have never had any complaints about the battery life of Apple laptops - they will work stably longer than any computer running Windows. For example, my 2020 MacBook Air can last up to 9.5 hours of constant web surfing at minimum brightness.

The only drawback of Air series laptops is the cooling system, which does not cope with its only duty, which is why the processor instantly heats up to 100 ° when opening several tabs in the browser and watching a video in parallel. Fortunately, this does not cause much discomfort if the laptop is used for working on your lap.

Anyway, I plan to use this Mac as my primary laptop until at least 2025.
