"The Batman" set the best opening day record of the year at the South Korean box office with 192,000 tickets sold, according to data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) on Wednesday.

Quoted from Yonhap, the number of tickets constituted 74 percent of the total tickets sold in cinemas in the country on Tuesday (1/2). "The Batman" also topped the Korean box office today.

According to Deadline, the film directed by Matt Reeves grossed 1.7 million US dollars or around Rp. 24.4 billion on the day it debuted in South Korea.

It is estimated that "The Batman" will reach revenues of 110 to 120 million US dollars (Rp. 1.58 to 1.72 trillion) for markets outside the United States and 115 to 125 million US dollars (Rp. 1.65 to 1.79 trillion) in America.

The debut of "The Batman" beat out two other blockbuster films released earlier this year in Korea, namely the Korean action film "The Pirates:

The Last Royal Treasure" and "Uncharted," starring Tom Holland, both garnered 92,000 and 70,000 viewers on their debut days in January and February, respectively.

In December last year, Marvel's superhero film "Spider-Man: No Way Home" attracted 630,000 people to theaters on its first day of release.

The figure is the best opening day record for a film since the COVID-19 pandemic spread in Korea.

Set in Gotham City, "The Batman" follows Bruce Wayne (played by Robert Pattinson) facing an investigation into the murder of his parents while solving clues left by serial killer Riddler.
