A self-changing bicycle is a self-changing individual transporter containing two robotized wheels related with a few conveyed pads on which the rider puts their feet. The rider controls the speed by slanting drives or in talk, and course of progress by winding the pads.

How to ride hoverboard

Important basic skills when riding a hoverboard

  1. Ascend

First, the hover kart, must be turned on so that the electronics can balance the device. When switched off, the device does not balance itself. Inexperienced drivers should hold on to a railing, a wall or an attendant when mounting. The strongest foot should be put on the hoverboard first. Put your foot on the outer third of the hoverboard tread to stand as wide as possible on the board. A wide stance makes it easier to balance at the beginning. Now try to bring the board into a stable and horizontal position. The challenge here is to keep the board straight enough so that it doesn't move forward or backward. Once you feel reasonably confident about this, the second foot is pulled onto the opposite tread. Note that the strong foot must remain in a horizontal position during the ascent. You are now standing on the hoverboard. Try to hold the same position for a while to gain control and confidence.

  1. Driving forward and backward

In order to drive forward, the body's center of gravity is shifted slightly forward. The sequence of movements works intuitively with increasing practice. The device keeps its balance all by itself. The main difficulty is to really stand up straight on the board. Even a light tap with your toes can trigger a driving manoeuvre. Some boards indicate acoustically if you lean too far forward and it can no longer ensure automatic compensation. For braking, the body's center of gravity is shifted slightly backwards. The more you train, the easier it is to stop.

Reversing works in the same way. If you shift your body backwards in a slightly inclined position, the device moves backwards as if by itself. Try until you feel confident. The rule is: practice makes perfect.

  1. Driving curves

After you have learned how to drive straight, you can start cornering. In order to take corners correctly, the load on the feet is crucial. A left turn is made by putting more weight on the right foot. Conversely, the left foot is more heavily loaded to make a right turn.

  1. Turning on the spot

A spin works similar to turning. Now both feet are loaded simultaneously in opposite directions. For a right turn, segway uk, the right foot is loaded forward and the left foot is loaded back.

  1. Dismount

You need to be balanced to descend properly. Shift your weight onto the strong foot and carefully lower the other foot backwards. You can then safely dismount with the stronger foot. Always climb backwards.

What you should consider when learning to ride a hoverboard

Practice on private property

Hoverboards may not be ridden on sidewalks and streets in Germany. They are considered motor vehicles. However, the motorized e-companions are not approved for use on the road. It is unlikely that they will receive one in the future or, like Segways, receive an individual operating license after an individual technical test has been carried out.

Suitable places to practice

You can practice indoors or outdoors. If you want to try driving indoors for the first time, it is important to have enough space in the area. Apartments are rather unsuitable. Furniture and objects quickly get in the way and increase the risk of injury. It is therefore advisable to practice outside.

If you practice outside, you should drive on a level surface. Bumps make driving much more difficult, especially at the beginning. It is also essential to wear protective clothing (helmet, knee, elbow and wrist pads) to protect against bruises and falls. Avoid riding on wet trails as the board may slide on them.

Support yourself with a second person

Getting on and balancing are particularly difficult for most hoverboard riders. As soon as the foot is placed on the board, the board starts to move. Ask a friend or family member to block one wheel of the hoverboard with their feet. Now you can climb in peace and keep your balance.

First straight drive

The buy push scooters, reacts to the smallest foot movements and weight shifts. Slowly approach and shift your foot inclination very carefully. Also bend your knees a bit. Keeping your own center of gravity as low as possible applies equally to locomotion on any type of board. If you bend your knees you are more agile and can react better to the movements of the board.
