Marcos Alonso, a Chelsea defender, says he wants to play in La Liga and is open to joining Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona.

The 31-year-old has been a regular for the Blues throughout the 2021/2022 campaign. He made 34 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and four assists.

Alonso's current contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in June and there has been widespread speculation surrounding his future in recent months.

The Spain international has opened the door to leaving Chelsea next year. Real Madrid, Atletico and Barcelona have all made interesting moves for the left-back.

"I want to play in La Liga, all my life I want to play and be here in Spain, but the situation is different and it doesn't all depend on me," Alonso told AS via Sports Mole, Friday (25/3/2022).

"Right now I'm focused on the season and what has to happen, will happen," he said.

Family Reason
Atletico Madrid have been eyeing Marcos Alonso for a long time. Now, the Spanish club is eyeing the Spanish defender again.

"Yes, yes, I have family ties on all sides (if he is considering joining Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona)... Chelsea now. I have a contract for this and one more season."

Alonso started his professional career at Real Madrid but made only one first-team appearance for the club before leaving for Bolton Wanderers.
