The largest and most exclusive SUV in the BMW's catalog is updated to face the second stage of its commercial cycle. Beyond the aesthetic novelties, the main changes linked to this restyling focus on the technological endowment and the mechanical section.

Since its launch in 2019, the BMW X7 has not yet received updates. However, knowing the relevance of this model within the luxury SUV segment, the Munich firm has just presented the new restyling of the largest SUV in its catalog. Among its main rivals, we find models of the stature of the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, or the Range Rover.

The 2022 BMW X7 debuts with a completely redesigned front end that includes a new look with headlights divided into two differentiated modules. At the top, we see thin LED strips that integrate the daytime running lights, position lights, and direction indicators. Then, just below and on an independent module embedded in the front bumper, we find the dipped and main beam lights.

Following the BMW DNA that is part of the latest evolution of the brand's design language, the front of the BMW X7 SUV features a massive double kidney grille that, in this case, can even be illuminated thanks to the 'Iconic Glow' function. The rear also receives new LED headlights with a three-dimensional effect showing an excellent design. 

The profile view shows new 20-inch alloy wheels. As an option, future owners of the new BMW X7 also have 23-inch wheels at their disposal. Furthermore, the exterior color palette is expanded with two tones: Sparkling Copper Gray metallic and M Marina Bay Blue metallic. In addition, around 40 BMW Individual colors are available on special request.

The 2022 BMW X7 SUV continues to offer a very spacious cabin with seating for up to seven passengers from the inside out. The front seats include a heated function as standard in the first row. The car's proportions are 5.15 meters long, 2.0 meters wide, and 1.81 meters high. The panoramic glass sunroof is included as standard. 

Concerning technological equipment, the new version of the German luxury SUV receives the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with the operating system BMW OS 8. In front of the driving position, we find a digital instrument panel integrated into a 12.3 -inch screen. The curved panel integrates a second 14.9-inch display that supports the brand's infotainment system, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The endowment is completed with elements such as the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which includes gesture control and voice assistant functions.

The mechanical offer of the new BMW X7 will be made up of three mild-hybrid engines with a 48V system and xDrive all-wheel drive. The access option will come from the hand of the xDrive40d termination, powered by an in-line six-cylinder diesel block capable of producing 340 hp and 720 Nm of maximum torque. This configuration announces 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, consuming between 7.6 and 8.7 l/100km. 

A step above is the BMW X7 xDrive40i, which hides under the hood a six-cylinder gasoline engine with 3.0 liters of displacement capable of developing 380 hp and 520 Nm. In this case, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and consumes between 9.2 and 10.5 l/100km.

The most exciting and high-performance version of the catalog comes from the hand of the new BMW X7 M60i, which includes a powerful 4.4 V8 Biturbo petrol engine that delivers 530 hp and 750 Nm. This high-flying version manages to sign the 0 to 100 in just 4.7 seconds. The average fuel consumption also increases and ranges between 12.2 and 13.3 L/100km. All three options are mated to an eight-speed ZF Steptronic automatic transmission.

To provide an excellent driving experience for its future owners, the new X7 comes standard with an adaptive air suspension system with electronically controlled dampers. In the case of the BMW X7 M60i, the SUV can also include an integral active steering system and Executive Drive Pro with dynamic roll stabilization. Furthermore, the list of driving assistance systems is also expanded and now comes standard with frontal collision warning, route control, active navigation, traffic light recognition, and towing and maneuvering assistant.

The 2022 BMW X7 production will take place at the plant of the BMW Group in Spartanburg (United States). From there, it will be distributed to the different international markets in which the brand operates. The first orders for the new BMW X7 SUV can be made from next August. Currently, BMW has not revealed any details about the car's price list, which will be announced in the coming months.
