Southern Brides, be aware! Lauren & Trent's backyard wedding combines tradition with sweet southern style!

HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR FIANCE?

We met after college in Atlanta, GA. Trent comes from Atlanta and visited the University of Miami. I am from Charleston, SC, and visited the University of Georgia. My sorority sister and college roommate, Maggie, began dating Trent's good friend, John, our junior year of school, and that we all wound up moving to Atlanta after graduation. I accompanied Maggie and John to some World Cup party with John's senior high school friends and was brought to Trent!

TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL!

After moving to Chicago, I knew we'd require a sun-filled vacation during our first winter. Trent's family includes a condo around the beach in St. Pete, FL, therefore we booked a visit at the end of February to be an escape from Chiberia. On our second to yesterday at the beach, Trent managed to get clear he desired to get a drink in a tiki bar on the beach watching the sunset before going to dinner. We grabbed a drink as planned and Trent was required to an area around the beach where roses and champagne were waiting! He proposed around the spot after which revealed he'd hired a photographer to capture everything! We took more pictures around the beach after which Trent revealed he'd another surprise. We walked to support the beach towards the condo, and guess who had been waiting for all of us? Both in our parents, his sister, my sister, my buddy in law, and my 3-month-old nephew! They were in around the engagement visiting FL to celebrate around. They were built with dinner and party-ready for all of us at the condo! It was so nice to possess everyone there around to take in as soon as. Here

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE LOCATION FOR YOUR WEDDING? WHAT TYPE OF VENUE WERE YOU LOOKING FOR?

I always knew I desired to get married in Charleston, SC - my hometown. It is this kind of amazing city with so much to provide! I originally desired to get married downtown in a classic venue but changed my thoughts once we realized the expense involved and just how you were necessary to select from limited vendor lists. We didn't desire to be tied down like this.

My sister had her reception in my parent's backyard, which is right around the water, and also the setting is spectacular. I desired to do something diverse from her, but realized it was the ideal location because of costs, spectacular views, and planning ease, in addition to being personal and special to the family. I am SO glad we opted for the backyard wedding - no regrets!

HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES? TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AT FEELTIMES!

I had an incredible experience as an intern with FeelTimes and try to know I'd return when it was my turn as a bride! A lot had changed from the time I interned so when I arrived for my appointment - a bigger selection and a simpler ordering process (all online). It was awesome!

I'd recommend FeelTimes to brides all over the country. My bridesmaids were happy with the boho bridesmaid dresses and incredibly happy they might style their gowns nonetheless they wanted!

WHO DESIGNED YOUR BRIDAL GOWN? WHERE DID YOU GET IT?

My wedding dress was also from FeelTimes.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY?

The entire day!!! Ha, I mean if I HAVE to narrow it down I'd the reception. This was when I was able to relax and enjoy as soon as. I began my designer shoes and revealed. I designed a point to become with our guests and spend the majority of the night around the dance floor with my hubby. Most of your day you're carrying out a timeline, giddy with nerves and excitement, and centered on getting on the aisle! It was nice once the nerve-wracking part and formal photos were over!

WHAT INSPIRED YOU WHEN YOU WERE PLANNING YOUR BIG DAY?

I desired to possess a wedding that was different from other weddings and shows our personalities. I didn't want the marriage to be too traditional and also desired to have some unusual surprises for the guests. For example, we'd a "Love Actually" style ending to the ceremony. The Plantation Singers, a conventional Gullah acapella group, sat from sight within the balcony during our ceremony and belted out "Oh Happy Day" during our first kiss. It was AWESOME!

We also left for the wedding night hotel, which was on the river from your reception, by boat from my parent's dock coupled with fireworks set off as we sailed away. We also really centered on making our guests feel in their own homes. We provided transportation for guests back and forth from events coupled with a really fun atmosphere in the reception. It would be a very warm June day, a lot of guests were a little sweaty after the night. A few of our friends jumped during my parent's pool before our exit for cooling off - black-tie attire and all sorts of - that's how in your own home they felt!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER BRIDES?

Invest inside a videographer. People will let you know "pictures are enough" or "make sure you are taking a moment to consider everything in". It's just so difficult to remember everything and make my way through. Having a video is awesome helping you go back and relive your day. I obtain a better feel for everything by watching our video. Don't get me wrong, pictures are everything too, however, the video still melts my heart and I watch it regularly.

I'd also recommend for brides to not get distracted by all the little details - they're important - but things inevitably go wrong in some places and you can't allow it to ruin your special day! For example, our wedding party trolley got the AC unit knocked off the nighttime before by driving too close to some low-lying tree. I swear, I double-checked 5 times using the company the trolley might have AC. It's June in SC and it was non-negotiable. There was nothing I could do to possess prevented that, so I brushed them back and opted for the flow. One of our bartenders was built with a seizure in the reception before the wedding party was announced and our first dance. He fell backward and knocked on the backless bookshelf holding glassware into the marsh - shattering everything. Luckily, he was okay after medical help arrived, and also the party continued once he was looked after!

We just knew we'd need to set a dark tone for the rest of the nighttime and lighten everyone up following the health care! We also were built with a hiccup using the arrival in our late-night snack - Chicago style Hot Dogs using a food boat! It caught burning a few hours before these were supposed to arrive - LITERALLY, THIS HAPPENED - but our amazing day of coordinator handled a support plan and arranged to allow them to bring their food carts instead. Less impactful and unique, but just as delicious. Lastly, I can't emphasize enough the significance of a GREAT day of coordinator. I trusted ours and she or he knew me well after many meetings and planning calls. It was so nice to understand she had my master plan and was prepared to execute regardless of what came her way - and she or he did!
